Fatboy Bikes Explained: DNA, Harlem, Scrambler or Bagus?

Which Fatboy should you buy? Most people start with the one that looks the coolest. Fair enough. But there are four models and up to three builds of each, and the right answer depends on who's riding it and where.

Here's the range in plain English.

The four models

• DNA: the entry point into the Fatboy world. Light, simple and easy to ride, with a compact rigid frame and a Shimano single-speed setup, so there are no gears to adjust. It's built for shorter and younger riders who want the Fatboy feel without the bulk.
• Harlem: the step-through cruiser and Fatboy's family favourite. School runs, coffee catch-ups, beach loops. The low frame makes it a great pick for smaller riders or anyone with limited mobility.
• Scrambler: the bike that put Fatboy on the map. A rugged, playful two-seater made for the long way around: backroads, bush tracks and sandy shortcuts.
• Bagus: where the range peaks. Confident and refined, with a lower centre of gravity that makes the ride feel sharper.

The three V3 builds

This is the part that trips people up. On the V3 bikes you choose a build as well as a model:

• EN15194 Certified: built in line with EN15194:2017, the European EPAC standard. Pedal assist is capped at 25 km/h and it can't be unlocked. The throttle works up to 6 km/h on its own and up to 25 km/h when you're pedalling.
• Performance: a 500W motor with 95Nm of torque for stronger acceleration and easier climbing.
• Ultra: the top spec, with Fatboy's FBX power architecture developed with Bafang and fully adjustable front and rear suspension.

The honest trade-off: V2 or V3?

The V3 is Fatboy's biggest update yet. The V2 is proven and currently at run-out pricing on the Bagus, Harlem and Scrambler while stock lasts. If you want the latest suspension and power system, go V3. If you want a bike with a long track record and money left over for accessories, a V2 is hard to argue with.
