Ryder Mover electric trike

Ryder Mover Review: The Best-Value Electric Trike for Everyday Independence

The Ryder Mover is the most affordable electric trike we stock, and it's the one we suggest when someone's main question is "what's the least I can spend on a trike that's actually good?" It's a straightforward three-wheeler with a big battery, a low step-through and Ryder's three-year warranty on the motor, frame and battery.

What it's like to ride

Three wheels means there's nothing to balance. You sit on it, you ride it, you stop, you get off. No foot-down moment at the lights, no wobble when you turn to look over your shoulder. For riders who've lost confidence on two wheels, that alone is the reason to try a trike.

The 20 x 3.0" tyres are the middle-of-the-road choice: wide enough to feel stable and soak up rough footpaths, narrow enough to steer easily. The 48V motor with a 720Wh battery gives real range, so a trip to the shops and back, or a long loop of the local trail, isn't a battery-anxiety exercise.

The frame is a low step-through, so getting on is a matter of stepping across and sitting down rather than lifting a leg over a top tube. That's what makes the difference for hips, knees and anyone recovering from surgery.

Carrying things

The Mover is built to carry. Shopping, a bag, the dog's things: the cargo capacity is generous for a trike at this price, and because the trike sits still when you stop, loading and unloading is calm rather than a balancing act.

Who it suits

  • Riders who want the stability of a trike without spending more than they need to
  • Anyone whose balance isn't what it was, or who finds a two-wheeler stressful
  • Local trips: shops, appointments, a lap of the park, visiting friends
  • Riders who want a long warranty behind them: 3 years on motor, frame and battery

If you want fat tyres, hydraulic brakes with a parking brake and two cargo crates, step up to the Ryder Drover. If you need the trike to fold for a car or a small shed, look at the Ridewave Wallaby.

For OTs, physios, support coordinators and support workers

The Mover is often the right answer when a participant's goals are modest and local, the budget in the plan is tight, and the main need is simply a stable, easy-to-mount trike with enough range. We can bring one to the participant's home for an at-home test ride, do a joint visit with you, and provide a written quote and supporting information for the plan. Seat, bars and grips can be adjusted to suit the rider.

We're not an NDIS-registered provider, so we work best with self-managed and plan-managed participants. Agency-managed? Get in touch anyway.
